“Wave Calls”

Merril was born deaf in 1958, the only child of an electrician and a schoolteacher. Raised in mainstream schooling, it wasn’t until Merril reached her early 20s that she discovered the Deaf Community and sign language. Her writing is heavily influenced by her experiences of Deafness, motherhood and Buddhism.
